Feedback

Good Morning, Ms. McInnis,

I trust this message finds you in high spirits! I wanted to take a moment to shout you out for the strong math class yesterday!

We are in the process of doing Classroom Environment observations, and the team was truly impressed by how all scholars in the class were actively engaged, including some of the scholars that struggled the most. Their enthusiasm and involvement not only enriched the learning experience but also inspired a positive atmosphere that resonated throughout the room. It’s evident that their commitment to the subject matter is making a significant impact.

I also want to give you props for your approach in maintaining a positive tone throughout the session. Instead of dwelling on the negative aspects, you skillfully emphasized the strengths and achievements of the students. This not only uplifted the morale of the class but also created an encouraging learning environment where everyone felt motivated and supported.

Your calm and composed presence did not go unnoticed. Amidst the challenges of a post-lunch math class, your steady demeanor provided a sense of assurance and stability. It was evident that your approach positively influenced the overall dynamics of the class.

Here’s to more successful and inspiring classroom experiences!

Take care,

KGC

Good Evening McInnis,

I wanted to thank you for sharing your tracker with me so that I could use it as a blueprint to create a tracker that I hope the team can implement! Once it is shared with the team – I will share with other GTL’s as well so the building can benefit. I want to shout you out for your collaboration and creation of materials for the team, with your role as publicist! It is greatly appreciated 😊

Warmly,

Hi Ms. McInnis,

It was great to spend some time in your classroom this morning! In my 25 minutes in your class, I saw so many amazing moments I could shout you out for – your level of preparedness, the palpable positive energy throughout the lesson, and student engagement. It was evident that you put a lot of proactive effort into this lesson (I LOVED the interdisciplinary moment with the colored water to explain ratios of quantities…SMART)!

One thing that really stood out to me that’s different from what I’ve seen in most classrooms to start this year was your routines/systems. The FIRST FIVE challenge was really effective & nearly 100% student driven. You had a clear visual on the board, student jobs, and leveraged your voice to do 2 key things – check-in with students and affirm them when they were meeting the expectations. You also rolled out a new participation tracker to push on a core discussion habit around equity of voice (another system that was also student-driven). Really great work!

When I look at your action step from Ms. Woods’ arc observation last week, it’s clear that you internalized it and have already implemented the feedback. Way to own your own development and growth as a teacher. Keep up the great work and continue having a strong start! 😊

Best,
